Prayer Requests for November 27 – December 4, 2007

November 27, 2007

Please pray for Marc and Aline Mailloux as they prepare to travel to Martinique this weekend to lead the final session of a three-year IONA theological training program. The class will graduate the first week of December.

Please hold Roger and Dianne Smalling up in prayer as they approach the completion of several translation projects, most notably among them Roger’s book on Justification, into Portuguese. The Smallings have also encountered the problem of the rising cost of postage. Please pray for them to find an economically feasible way for them to ship their books overseas.

Please pray for Villahermosa, Mexico and the surrounding areas. Many businesses were destroyed in the recent flooding, and the people have no income, and as a result, not enough food. The Smallings have been asked to visit approximately six training centers in the area in February; please pray for God’s provision so they can make that trip.

Please pray for Gordon Woolard as he prepares to head for Nairobi next Tuesday for the purpose of preaching.

Prayer Requests for November 20-26, 2007

November 20, 2007

Please pray for the Tropical Storm Noel relief container from Ministries in Action to arrive quickly in the Dominican Republic and for Dr. Silvia Martinez and her staff as they unload and distribute the supplies to all those who need them. Pray for God’s rich blessings on the recipients.

Please pray for Dr. Martinez and her staff especially as they treat the people of the Dominican Republic who are vulnerable to an outbreak of leptospirosis as a result of the flooding from Tropical Storm Noel last month. Leptospirosis is a waterborne disease which spreads from exposure to water contaminated with the urine of infected animals, primarily rats. At least 25 people in the Dominican Republic have died, and 200 others have been sickened, in this recent outbreak.

Please pray for our missionaries in Brazil, Onesimo and Marilda de Arruda, as they complete the first year of the Bible Institute. We also offer prayers for God’s mercy and guidance for their small Bible study group at the newspaper office. The de Arrudas are dealing with the unfavorable exchange rate of the U.S. dollar at this time, so please pray for God’s continued provision of all their needs.

We ask the Lord for special consideration of missionary, Joan Page-Bain (Haiti), who is still attempting to recover from her recent illness. We ask that God be with her and make His presence felt, to relieve her fears regarding a recurrence of cancer.

Walford Thompson is in St. Vincent, and has a meeting scheduled with a group of young people who recently came to the Lord in faith. Please pray for God to continue using Walford mightily to reach the lost, and pray for his health and stamina.

As a ministry, we of Ministries in Action are praying for the people of Bangladesh as they deal with the huge loss of life resulting from the recent cyclone. May God touch their hearts and lives as only He can.

Please continue to pray for the people of the Dominican Republic in their recovery from the flooding and loss of life from Tropical Storm Noel. We join Pastor Bresile St. Germain and Marie-Vita as they praise God for the revival going on in Gonaives, Haiti, and pray for God’s protection and the guidance of the Holy Spirit as many people come to the Lord. Please also pray for the ongoing Haitian Pastor’s Conference this week in Broward County, and for travel mercies for Bresile and Marie-Vita as they travel to central Florida for conferences in Tampa and Winter Haven.

Onesimo and Marilda de Arruda praise God for the success of the modular course in the village, and the fact that the people seem to enjoy it and are learning a lot. They request prayer for changes needed in academics and logistics for next year for the Bible Institute. There is a great need for full time teachers. They are thankful for being able to exchange their car for a better one with less need for constant repairs, and will continue to trust the Lord to eventually provide a four-wheel-drive vehicle which would be better suited to the terrain there.

Please hold Billy and Sherry McKillop up in prayer as they continue to raise support for their service in Jamaica. The McKillops’ van also recently needed a new transmission, so please pray for provision for continued reliable transportation for them. There is also a need for a new renter for their house in Miami.
